As Kontrast Personalberatung GmbH, we have successfully completed a challenging executive search mandate in the market for contact centers, call centers and customer service in the healthcare sector. As part of a covert succession plan, we were able to successfully fill the CEO position of a specialized service provider at the interface of healthcare, pharmaceuticals and medical technology. The contract with the new manager has been concluded.

The market hardly offers these profiles anymore

This mandate was challenging for our headhunter and personnel consultant team in several respects. The candidate market has shown for some time that the call center industry has noticeably lost substance, especially in the outbound segment. At the same time, many managers lack resilient experience with digital services, omnichannel structures and modern customer service transformation. Particularly in the regulated healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical technology environment, operational call center experience alone is no longer enough.

We were looking for a management personality who combines several areas of expertise that are critical to success: sound outbound know-how, confident leadership in inbound and service management, an understanding of the healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical technology industries, academic qualifications and proven business success in growth, management and profit responsibility. It is precisely this combination that is rarely available in the current candidate market.

How we built the shortlist

The strength of an experienced executive search team is particularly evident in such search processes. We systematically analyzed the market, discreetly identified target candidates, approached them directly and carefully pre-screened them in several steps. Despite a narrow field of candidates, we were able to recruit a reliable shortlist of three to five seriously suitable candidates and enable our client to make a well-founded selection decision.

The successful conclusion once again confirms our approach to executive search. In specialized service markets, it is not enough to wait for incoming applications. It takes a permanently employed team of headhunters and personnel consultants, reliable market knowledge, discreet direct approach and a structured suitability test to prepare viable management decisions.

As Managing Director, I have more than 30 years of experience in this market. It was precisely this industry knowledge that was essential for filling the management role: we were able to assess very precisely which management experience in digital healthcare customer dialog is actually relevant today, which profiles are compatible and which skills remain indispensable for sustainable business success.
